The Bookstore is gearing up for a fun and busy weekend. Starting with the Art Walk on Friday at 5:00 we will be hosting artist, author, illustrator and film maker Bryan Schaeffer. The former Dillon resident will have art on display, a digital presentation and will be signing copies of his book The Last Best Trails.
Saturday is independent bookstore day. This is an annual celebration that happens across the United States the last Saturday of April. The day is dedicated to honoring the independent bookstores that offer personalized book recommendations, create community spaces, and support authors. It further encourages shoppers to visit and purchase from independent bookstores, helping them thrive in a competitive retail landscape. Along with the art walk on Friday night there will be a full day on Saturday as we join 1600 hundred bookstores for the one day party.

The Bookstore will be celebrating 41 years in Dillon, stop by sign up for door prizes and share a memory of the Bookstore where you will find books galore and so much more.
The main event on Saturday features our friend and Billings author, Russell Rowland. He will be signing books from 1:00-4:00. With a reading from his new memoir - Be a Man: Raised in the Shadow of Cowboys at 1:30 with a book discussion to follow. This is a memoir with a specific focus on what it means to grow up in the West as a man. Russell Rowland’s father took a job as a ranch manager when Russell was ten, and it led to two of the worst years of his parents’ marriage because his mother, who grew up on a ranch in Southeastern Montana, never wanted to live on a ranch again. Rowland explores how this period in his family’s life, and how growing up in Montana impacted his view of the world. Russell, a fourth-generation Montanan is a critically-acclaimed author, a teacher, and a radio and podcast host. His radio show called 56 Counties can be heard on Yellowstone Public Radio. From the written to the spoken word, he is a true voice of the Big Sky Country.
Rowland was born in Bozeman, Montana. He teaches at the Gotham Writer’s Workshops, taught at Boston University where he received him MA in creative writing. At one time he lived in San Francisco where he was employed writing fortunes found in fortune cookies.
