Anaconda Man Dies After Being Struck on Montana Highway 1

ANACONDA, Mont. — A 61-year-old Anaconda man died after being struck by a vehicle early Friday on Montana Highway 1, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:51 a.m. Aug. 21 near mile marker 6 in Deer Lodge County.
A 34-year-old Deer Lodge woman was driving a Ford Mustang south in the left lane on a straight, level section of the highway when she encountered a pedestrian standing in the middle of the lane, the MHP report states.

The driver attempted to steer left to avoid the pedestrian, but the front passenger side of the Mustang struck him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released in the report.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was listed as uninjured.
Road conditions were clear and dry. The report does not list alcohol, drugs or speed as suspected factors.
Montana Highway Patrol continues investigating the crash.
