Roe 2 Fire Burns About 2,000 Acres East of Clark Canyon Reservoir

BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Mont. — The lightning-caused Roe 2 Fire was estimated at approximately 2,000 acres and remained 0% contained Friday morning.

The fire was reported at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, east of Clark Canyon Reservoir in Beaverhead County. An updated acreage estimate is expected later Friday.

Fire activity decreased overnight, resulting in minimal growth. Crews were able to construct dozer line along portions of the fire.

Resources assigned to the incident include six Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation engines, two U.S. Forest Service engines and three dozers. Aviation resources include water scoopers, one Type 2 helicopter and one Type 1 helicopter.

Friday morning brought temperatures in the 60s, light rain, overcast skies and increased relative humidity. Temperatures were expected to reach the low 70s, with moderate winds and a chance of rain throughout the day.

No structures were threatened as of the 8:30 a.m. update. Smoke may be visible from Interstate 15.

Officials are asking members of the public not to call 911 to report visible smoke from the fire.
