Roe 2 Fire Grows to Estimated 2000 Acres East of Clark Canyon Reservoir

BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Mont. — Fire crews are responding to a new wildfire burning east of Clark Canyon Reservoir in Beaverhead County Thursday evening.

The Roe 2 Fire was reported at approximately 5:00 p.m. Thursday, August 27, burning through grass and sagebrush. According to the latest information provided to Southwestern Montana News, the fire is currently estimated at approximately 2000 acres.

A significant response is underway, with four Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) engines, approximately eight to 10 local fire engines, one U.S. Forest Service engine and two DNRC helicopters responding to the incident.

Smoke from the fire is visible from Interstate 15 near the Red Rock Road exit and Clark Canyon Reservoir, south of Dillon.

As of Thursday evening, no structures are reported to be impacted by the fire.

The Montana DNRC identifies May through September as the core of Montana's wildfire season and directs residents to the state's wildfire information resources for current fire activity.
