DILLON — The Dillon Public Library has announced several upcoming events and programs scheduled throughout March and April, offering opportunities for community members of all ages to participate in educational programs, creative contests, and a large spring vendor event.
The library is currently hosting its PEEPS Diorama Contest, running from March 9 through April 3. This year’s theme is “Peeple’s Favorite Fairy Tale.” Participants are asked to submit their dioramas by March 23, after which the public will have the opportunity to stop by the library and vote for the “Peeple’s Choice Award.”
On March 24 at 5:30 p.m., representatives from Child and Family Services along with the CASA Program (Court Appointed Special Advocates) will give a presentation at the library. The program will provide information about the organizations and the services they provide to children and families in the community.

Later in the week, the library will host Smart Phone 101, a free class designed to help individuals better understand and use their mobile devices. The class will be held on March 27 and will be taught by Tara Stevens of Computer Rescue Service. The session covering Android phones will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a session focused on iPhones at 12:30 p.m. Those interested in attending are encouraged to stop by the library or call 683-4544 to sign up. Participants are also welcome to stop in ahead of time and leave questions they would like addressed during the class.
Another informational program will take place on March 28 at 11 a.m., when Izzi Simonsen and the Women’s Resource Center will present “Safe Childhoods: Understanding the Impact of Domestic Violence on Children.” The presentation will focus on the effects domestic violence can have on young people and provide resources for community members seeking to better understand the issue.

Looking ahead to April, the library will host its annual Spring Fling & Bling event on April 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the National Guard Armory in Dillon. The event will feature a giant book sale, more than 40 vendors, door prize drawings, and lunch available for purchase.
Library officials encourage community members to attend these events and take advantage of the programs being offered throughout the spring season.
