Emotion Coaching workshop starts at 9 am and goes until 3 pm. "Emotional intelligence is learned, and a child's first teacher about emotions is his or her parents. You can help your child develop emotional intelligence by "coaching" him/her, using principles researchers have found work well. "Emotion coaching" can help you avoid common pitfalls as you guide your children toward becoming successful, happy adults. Emotion Coaching is helpful for all parents, no matter what their child presents with. It is based on empathy and focuses on helping parents to tune in to their child’s emotional world, while also setting limits behaviorally. Emotion Coaching is a theory that was developed by John Gottman though research and clinical experience, and is explained in his book Raising an Emotionally Intelligent Child. The cost of the workshop is $30, which includes a full day of information, snacks, and a great workbook you get to take home."
