DILLON, Mont. — The Southwest Montana Friends of NRA has announced the cancellation of its 2026 event and banquet, which had been scheduled for late September, as wildfires continue to impact communities across the region.

Organizers said the decision came after several heartfelt conversations about the ongoing fires and the people affected by them.

“The area wildfires and all those impacted by them are where we feel our priorities need to be focused now,” the organization stated in its announcement.

While the Southwest Montana event will not take place this fall, sponsorship opportunities remain available, and tickets are still being offered for the 2026 Montana State Friends of NRA event, scheduled for October 17 in Livingston.

Those interested in sponsorships or the state event can contact NRA Senior Field Representative Joe Crismore by email at jcrismore@nrahq.org or by phone at 406-293-2498.

Organizers also said raffle tickets for the Montana State Friends of NRA raffle will be available soon.

Anyone with questions about the cancellation or upcoming activities can contact Kathy Wise at 406-660-1699 or Joan Grogan at 406-925-1871.

The Southwest Montana Friends of NRA committee is already looking ahead and plans to hold its 2027 event next spring.

The organization thanked supporters for their continued support and understanding as Southwest Montana communities deal with the impacts of the ongoing wildfire season.
