Some Grasshopper Valley Evacuations Downgraded to ‘SET’

BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Mont. — Some Grasshopper Valley residents will be allowed to return to their properties Monday as evacuation restrictions are reduced in several areas, according to the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office.

Beginning Aug. 17, the Shale Creek and Clark Creek evacuation areas will move from “GO” to “SET” status. Residents may return but should remain prepared to evacuate again if fire conditions worsen.

Areas above Shale Creek and Clark Creek remain under “GO” status. Residents in those areas are not permitted to return.

All evacuation restrictions have been lifted for the Billings Creek area and locations to the south. Residents in those areas may return to their properties.

Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway Remains Closed

The Pioneer Mountains Scenic Byway remains closed until further notice. Officials warned motorists not to attempt to use the byway.

A strong law enforcement presence is expected throughout the area for the next several weeks.

Residents should consult the Sheriff’s Office evacuation map for specific boundaries and confirm the status of their property before returning.
