DILLON, MT – Approximately 180 people gathered Saturday afternoon at Kiwanis Park for a nationwide protest dubbed "No Kings." The demonstration coincided with the Army’s 250th anniversary and took place on Flag Day.

Many protesters expressed the view that the military parade held earlier that day was intended to honor President Trump, and the event has received disapproval from members of both political parties. A small group of counter-protesters also arrived to show support for recent government actions, including the deportation of illegal immigrants.

Law enforcement officers were on hand to ensure the demonstration remained peaceful. Instead of immediate confrontations, police focused on education and communication, advising those who wished to further express their opinions to do so respectfully. Officers also maintained order by keeping protesters out of traffic and ensuring passing vehicles obeyed all traffic laws.
