Montana Western Hires Stevie Ruelas as Assistant Track Coach

DILLON, Mont. — Montana Western has hired Stevie Ruelas as an assistant track and field coach, head coach Taylor Grove announced Tuesday.

“I am excited to have Stevie joining our coaching staff,” Grove said. “He brings good experience having coached at a top-level program in the NAIA. I think he will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our sprints, jumps and hurdles group and help raise the bar for the athletes on our team.”

Ruelas joins the Bulldogs after serving as a graduate assistant with the Dickinson State track and field program. He oversaw the Blue Hawks’ sprint and hurdle athletes and assisted with the jumping events.

The Tucson, Arizona, native helped lead the Dickinson State women’s team to an NAIA national runner-up finish in 2026. He also helped the men’s team win its first conference championship in eight years.

During his tenure at Dickinson State, Ruelas coached a three-time women’s high jump national champion and 11 conference champions.

Ruelas earned both of his degrees from Dickinson State. He holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a master’s degree in sports administration.
