Montana Highway Patrol Releases Details in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on MT-43 Near Wisdom

WISE RIVER, Mont. — The Montana Highway Patrol has released additional information regarding the fatal motorcycle crash on Montana Highway 43 that occurred on July 12, claiming the life of a 77-year-old man from Phillipsburg, MT.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol's incident report, the man was operating a Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound on MT-43 when the crash occurred.

Investigators say the motorcycle left the roadway and entered a culvert ditch before becoming airborne. The motorcycle and rider traveled approximately 30 feet through the air before landing in the H Bar J parking lot.

The driver was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash and came to rest near the motorcycle.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, but the rider was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, speed, alcohol, and drugs are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash.
