Lady Beavers Fall To The Hamilton Broncs

On Tuesday, the Dillon Beavers varsity softball team fell to the Hamilton Broncs 19-6 in a game marked by strong team offensive efforts and strategic base running.


The Broncs got on the board early with a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. They exploded offensively in the second, scoring six runs on five hits. Key contributions included Hayliegh Savage, who singled and drove in two runs; Thea Jackson, whose double scored two runs; Dawsyn Ekin, doubled to bring in another; and Casey Kennedy, who singled and scored.


Hamilton Broncs continued their offensive surge with an additional run in the third inning, highlighted by Jackson’s double to center field. The team’s most productive inning was the fourth, when they scored five runs on two hits. Hadley Lockhart singled and scored, Kennidi Cooper doubled and brought in two RBIs, Coco Vachon walked to score, and Mel Race drew a walk to add another.



Dillon Beavers responded in the bottom of the fourth, narrowing the gap to 13-6. Bailey Blake grounded out to score one run, Kaitlyn Konen homered to center field with two RBIs, and Tyler Gibson doubled, scoring another.


Pitching was a challenge for both teams. Tymber Barnes started for Dillon, surrendering nine hits and 12 runs over four innings with three strikeouts and eight walks. Mel Race pitched for Hamilton, allowing six hits and six runs over four innings with five strikeouts and two walks.

Offensively, Dillon was led by Kaitlyn Konen and Adyson Creighton, who each drove in two runs. The team remained steady in the field, committing no errors and with Kylie Konen making the most plays with six chances.


The Broncs showcased their offensive depth with 14 hits and demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing 14 walks. Key contributors included Kennidi Cooper and Savage, each with three hits, and Savage who had four RBIs. Lockhart also contributed multiple hits and had the most chances in the field with 10. Hamilton’s aggressive base-running produced six stolen bases, further pressuring the Dillon defense.



Despite the loss, the Beavers showed resilience and defensive reliability, but Hamilton’s potent offense ultimately secured the victory.
