Governor's Arts Awards Nominations Now Open

Nominations for the Governor's Arts Awards, established to honor those creative professionals who've demonstrated high levels of achievement in the arts, a commitment to the arts in Montana, and ongoing contributions to our creative landscape, are now open. The Awards recognize those who've been instrumental in supporting and participating in the arts throughout their careers; the roster of past honorees of the Awards is a testament to the esteem in which these individuals are held.

"The Governor's Arts Awards reflect the work of those who have spent their careers creating at a high level while working to nurture and support art in Montana," notes Montana Arts Council chair Cyndy Andrus. "Honorees are people whose reputations aren't limited to Montana; their work is known nationally and internationally, and they've helped make Montana a center of creative culture that's unique to our state."

Montanans are encouraged to nominate artists they feel belong in the company of these honorees, and are invited to submit the names of those working in the visual, performance, literary, or traditional arts.

To learn more about the Awards or to make a nomination, visit https://art.mt.gov/gaa and submit online. Prior honorees of the Governor's Arts Award are not eligible for re-nomination.

Nominations are open through February 3, 2022.
