Friends Of The Jaycee Park Host Luau Fundraiser

The Friends of Jaycee Park hosted their annual dinner and fundraiser raiser on Tuesday, March 21st at the Lewis and Clark Room at UMW. Guests started the evening off with a tiki style bar while they browsed the many silent auction items that had been donated to the fundraiser. The night really got started when Western Football players Junior Mata’afa, Marcus Lombard, Sione Heimuli, Kipa Sakalia, Kenai Liua, Lalio Kaluma, Hirkley Latu, Jrney Mata’afa West Mata’afa, and Jed Hefferman performed the Haka a Maori War Dance.

After the performance attendees were treated to a buffet style Luau Dinner with pulled pork, chicken, salads, and desserts.

After dinner the Val Prophet Memorial live auction began with auctioneers Jeff Welborn and Gary Ordish bringing in the bids to a lively crowd.

Fun was had by all those in attendance and the funds raised will go into upkeep of the park along with a few needed upgrades to help control areas that see water pooling and produce muddy messes. If you would like to donate to the park you can do so here .
