DILLON, MT — The Dillon Public Library will host its first annual “Garden Fair – Let’s Get Growing” on Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the library, offering community members a chance to start planning and preparing for the upcoming gardening season.

The event will highlight the library’s Seed Library, which is stocked with a variety of heirloom vegetable and flower seeds available for the public to check out. Organizers say the fair is designed to help gardeners of all experience levels learn new techniques and get ideas for the growing season ahead.

Local gardeners will be on hand during the event to share their expertise and answer questions. Those new to gardening can learn what grows best in the Dillon area, while apartment dwellers can explore ways to grow vegetables and flowers in containers on patios or balconies.

New this year, the Seed Library will feature vegetables specifically selected for container gardening, making it easier for people with limited space to grow their own food.

The event will also include a variety of topics and activities, including square-foot gardening, container gardening, gardening tricks and tips, composting, and how to identify and manage garden pests. Families are encouraged to attend, as hands-on activities will be available for children.

Attendees will also learn how to use the Seed Library, create seed snails, and discover creative ways to utilize recyclables in the garden.

The event is open to the public and provides an opportunity for experienced gardeners and beginners alike to connect, share ideas, and get ready for the growing season.
