Saturday afternoon saw the Dillon Cubs put on a powerful offensive display as they crushed the Sugar Sox Legion A, 20-9, in a high-scoring youth baseball matchup.
The Cubs got off to a strong start, with Trenton Moreni doubling and driving in two runs in the first inning. An error allowed an additional run, and a pair of singles from Jase Alvarez and Cohen Hartman extended Dillon’s lead early. Hartman was exceptional at the plate, finishing four-for-five with a triple, double, and two singles, giving the team a major offensive boost.
Dillon continued to pile on runs in the second and third innings. Singles from Alvarez and doubles from Andrew Bartlome and Moreni kept the pressure on the visitors. The offense was clicking, piling up 22 total hits and stealing seven bases, with multiple players contributing across the board.
The visiting Sugar Sox tried to rally in the fourth inning, plating seven runs on three hits thanks to walks and key hits from Wyatt Telford, Henry Lewis, Spencer Chiddix, Jaxton Hanks, and Latrell Markle. Despite their effort, Dillon responded swiftly, tallying five runs in the bottom of the inning on timely hits from Peacock, Hartman (who tripled), Bartlome, and Engelhardt.

Tristan Alvarez shined with three RBIs and a perfect 3-for-4 day at the plate, driving in runs in key moments. Engelhardt, Hartman, Moreni, and others each contributed with multiple hits and stolen bases, showing offensive versatility and aggressive base running.
On the mound, Hartman earned the win—shutting down the Sugar Sox hitters over two scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Meanwhile, Trevon Butikofer took the loss for Sugar Sox, giving up eight runs on nine hits in two innings.
The victory marks a strong showing for the Dillon Cubs, who look ahead to their next challenge against the Helena Senators on Tuesday. With their potent offense and solid pitching, the Cubs are poised for continued success this season.
