The Dillon Beavers built a 4-run lead in the third inning and managed to fend off a late charge from the Butte Central Maroons, securing an 8-7 victory on Wednesday.

The Beavers opened the scoring early with a solo home run from Tyler Gibson in the first inning, followed by a single from Bailey Blake, which brought in two additional runs. They continued to build on their lead with a run in the second inning, as Kaitlyn Konen doubled down the right field line, making the score 4-1.

Dillon extended their lead in the third inning after Butte Central dropped a third strike, allowing another run to cross the plate.

However, the Maroons began to close the gap, scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning. They tied the game at seven with contributions from an error and singles by K. McQueary and Z. Otherbull.

The decisive moment came in the top of the seventh when Kaitlyn Konen hit a solo home run to center field, putting the Beavers ahead 8-7.

Starting pitcher Tymber Barnes surrendered two hits and three runs over two innings, striking out four and walking three. For the Maroons, B. Schelin took the loss, allowing 10 hits and eight runs (six earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking four.

The Beavers tallied a total of 10 hits in the game, with Katey Vezina, Tyler Gibson, and Kaitlyn Konen each contributing two hits. Vezina, Gibson, Blake, and Konen also drove in one run apiece.

On the other side, K. Badovinac was a standout for the Maroons, going 3-for-4 at the plate and driving in a run, alongside contributions from Otherbull, S. Gelling, and McQueary, who each added an RBI. The Maroons displayed strong plate discipline with a total of five walks during the game.
