Crews Contain 12.5-Acre Wildfire Near Ennis

ENNIS, Mont. — Firefighters contained a wildland fire that burned an estimated 12.5 acres near the Dry Creek Trail area Tuesday evening.
The Madison Valley Rural Fire Department responded to the reported fire Aug. 18. Arriving crews found an active wildfire and immediately began suppression efforts while protecting nearby residences.
Several homes were evacuated as a precaution while firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported.
Because of the fire’s size and location, assistance was requested from several neighboring agencies.

Firefighters worked throughout the evening to establish access, contain the fire, protect properties and extinguish remaining hot spots. Crews remained at the scene late into the night, and equipment was left in the area for continued monitoring and mop-up operations.
The cause of the fire was not provided.
