Community Invited To December Events At Montana Western

The University of Montana Western would like to invite the community to a variety of events taking place throughout the month of December.



The University of Montana Western and Trout Unlimited will be hosting the second annual “Community Water Conversations: Digging into Water Rights and Exempt Wells” event on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Lewis and Clark Room located in UMW’s Mathews Hall.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature a panel and Q&A session. Designed to share knowledge and perspectives from a group of experts, this year’s panelists include: Andrew Gorder, Legal Director of the Clark Fork Coalition, Nate Ward, Water Rights Bureau Chief at Montana DNRC, Brooke Erb, Erb Livestock Company, and Race King, Ranch Manager at the Selkirk Division of Matador Ranch and Cattle Company.

The University of Montana Western’s Theatre Department and Bank of Commerce Performing Arts Series is excited to present “The SpongeBob Musical” from December 8-17, 2023.

Performances will be held on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from December 8 through 17. Shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays, and 2:30 p.m. on Sundays in Montana Western’s Beier Auditorium located in Main Hall.

Annual Community Holiday Celebration: December 13

Please join us in the Lewis and Clark Room of Mathews Hall for dinner and refreshments on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. This festive event features a variety of delicious appetizers, entrees, sides, and desserts, and is free and open to the public. A story of entangled romance and comedy, where all the world’s a stage, “As You Like It” is a keep-you-on-your-toes production, sure to captivate audiences with its happily ever after.

The Montana Western Fine Arts Gallery, in partnership with the Glass Club, are proud to present this year’s Holiday Art Show and Sale opening Wednesday, December 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and running through December 16.

Join us to celebrate the holiday season with a variety of one-of-a-kind works of art made by UMW students, faculty, and staff. Items on display and for sale will include photography, paintings, drawings, textiles, glass artwork, crafts, and more. All proceeds will go directly to the artists. Payments will be accepted by cash or check only.

Holidays with the Dawgs: December 14

The Association of Student Athletes presents the second annual Holidays with the Dawgs event on Thursday, December 14, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Keltz Arena. Join us for cookies, hot chocolate, games, prizes, pictures with Santa, and more!

Embark on a harmonious holiday journey with the Cantabileers! This year’s winter concert performance will feature a variety of musical selections and student-led ensembles that showcase this talented and creative group.
