Columbia Falls Wildkats Defeat Dillon Beavers 9-2 In Action-Packed Matchup

The Columbia Falls Varsity Wildkats defeated the Dillon Beavers on Friday, with a final score of 9-2, thanks in part to a powerful sixth inning that saw six runs cross the plate.
The Wildkats started strong in the bottom of the first inning when Annika Reid singled, putting them on the board. The Beavers responded in the top of the second inning, tying the game at one with a single from Bridget Lovaas.
Columbia Falls regained the lead in the bottom of the third when Onnikka Lawrence singled, allowing another run to score, putting the Wildkats ahead 2-1.
The game took a turn in the sixth inning as Columbia Falls exploded offensively, scoring six runs on four hits. Addy Bowler led off with a single to score one run, and Lawrence was hit by a pitch, driving in another. Reid then singled, bringing in two runs, while Tymber Barnes induced Kylie Gjesdal-Davis to hit into a fielder's choice, resulting in yet another run scoring. Alexa Friske capped off the inning with a single that brought in one more run, extending the Wildkats’ lead.

Ella Branstetter earned the victory for Columbia Falls, allowing five hits and one run over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Adyson Creighton took the loss for the Beavers, going five innings and surrendering three runs (two earned) on ten hits, while striking out nine and walking none.
Offensively, the Beavers were led by Katey Vezina, Bridget Lovaas, Bailey Blake, and Kylie Konen, each collecting two hits in the game. Lovaas and Tyler Gibson drove in one run apiece for Dillon.
The Columbia Falls Varsity Wildkats amassed 14 hits during the game, with Reid leading the way, contributing three RBIs and going 3-for-4 at the plate. Bowler, Tayler Lingle, Bella Mann, Gjesdal-Davis, and Friske also added multiple hits to the Wildkats' strong offensive display.
Looking ahead, the Dillon Beavers will travel to face the Laurel Varsity Locomotives on Friday, seeking to bounce back from this tough loss.
