BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Western women's basketball team (7-14) fell to RV Montana Tech (14-8) this afternoon.
Payton Hagy led the Bulldogs effort scoring 17 points.
How It Happened:
The Bulldogs came out strong, with Isabella Lund scoring seven early points to help Western make its first three baskets and take an early lead. However, Montana Tech capitalized on free throws and a late basket to end the first quarter with a 19-17 advantage.
The Orediggers picked up their defensive pressure in the second quarter, forcing nine Bulldog turnovers that led to 12 points. Payton Hagy knocked down three three-pointers to keep Montana Western within reach, heading into halftime down 40-28.

Maddy Moy helped spark a comeback in the third quarter, scoring five points to lead an 11-4 Bulldog run, cutting the deficit to just five at 44-39. Tech quickly responded with a decisive 16-4 run to close the quarter, pushing their lead to 60-43.
Kenzie Pedersen scored seven of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, while Trinidie Nichols hit a pair of three-pointers in an effort to keep the Bulldogs in the game. However, Montana Tech maintained control, securing the win in the teams' second meeting this season.
Notables:
Hagy led the Bulldogs with 17 points, shooting 4-7 from beyond the arc.
Lund tallied 11 points and recorded a game-high four steals.
Moy contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
Western turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 20 Montana Tech points.
The Orediggers outscored the Bulldogs 46-28 in the paint.
