The Montana Western volleyball team finished up their road trip to Havre, Mont. with a complete sweep on the weekend moving to 5-7 on the season. They defeated Presentation College 3-0 before defeating Mayville State 3-0 later in the day. The Bulldogs outhit their opponents this weekend .251 to .046. while averaging 18.2 digs per set, 14.07 kills per set, and 3.21 blocks per set.
"I am pretty proud of how the team played this entire weekend. We really wanted to focus on earning each of our points and they did a great job at that. We had a lot of different leaders step up at different points this weekend. Playing really tough opponents this preseason has really helped elevate our game, and now we are looking onward to a tough conference schedule." coach Katie Lovett said.
How It Happened
The Bulldogs defeated Presentation College in straight sets 25-17, 25-23, and 25-11. Jazi Smith led the Bulldog attack with 15 kills and seven digs, posting an impressive .600 hitting percentage in the game. Peyton Vogl had nine kills and was .571 hitting. Kaylee Fritz added another 42 assists to her season total as she led the Bulldogs to 48 kills in the win over Presentation.

The second game continued to showcase the Bulldogs and their hard work as they downed Mayville State in straight sets. Smith continued to shine as she totaled 15 kills in the game. KayLee Kopp and Danyel Martin each had nine kills apiece. Goddard had 16 digs for the Bulldog defense. Fritz totaled 37 assists. "I am super proud of how well we played together as a team and how energetic and positive we were throughout the whole weekend. It really paid off!" sophomore libero Kelsey Goddard said. Notables

Fritz totaled 154 sets on the weekend, giving her an average of 11 assists per set.
Smith led the day with 30 kills between both games today, averaging 4.14 kills per set during the four-game stretch in Havre.
Goddard averaged 4.78 digs per set over the weekend after totaling 30 digs between both games today.

Up next The Bulldogs will be traveling to Billings, Mont. next weekend for the preseason Frontier conference tournament. Their first game will be against the University of Providence at 5 PM on Thursday, Sept. 15.
