Bulldog Track And Field Concludes Indoor Season At Big Sky Tuner

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The Montana Western track & field team traveled to Montana State University this afternoon where they concluded their indoor track and field season.


Today's meet was the final meet of the season with seven Bulldogs competing at the meet that saw the Bulldogs compete alongside other Frontier teams, as well as other NCAA and NJCAA opponents.



Results

Malia CoxJustene Santi, Maddie Yakos and Olivia Heiner represented the Bulldog women today in various events. Heiner, Yakos and Santi all found themselves in the same heat of the women's mile race.


Heiner recorded her fastest indoor mile in her collegiate career after she finished in 31st with a time of 5:57.92. Yakos followed with her indoor track and field debut, recording a 6:11.06 in the race and placing 33rd. Santi rounded out the race with a 35th place and a time of 6:16.32.


Santi also opened the meet by competing in the women's 3000m race. She finished in 20th after recording a 12:12.48 in the race.


Cox competed in the women's 200m and 400m races. In the 200m, she finished in sixth after she finished her heat with a time of 29.01. In the 400m race, she found herself in seventh overall in the competitive race with a time of 1:08.82.


On the men's side, there were more personal records that were broken in the meet. Isaiah Thomas once again set a personal record in the 200m dash. He finished in second overall with a time of 22.81. He also finished second place in the men's 60m dash, running it in 6.93.



Brant Heiner broke his indoor record in the men's 3000m race. He recorded a 9:29.39 and placed 30th in the race. Heiner also raced in the men's mile race and finished 33rd with a 4:50.41.


Brody Henry had a good day on the track as well. He raced in the men's 800m race and finished in 8th place. He recorded a time of 2:05.21, a mark that tops his previous personal best in a race that he recorded in last week's meet.

With sprinter Isaiah Thomas earning a spot in the Indoor Track and Field Championships following last week's meet, Thomas will be continuing his indoor season as he travels to Brookings, S.D. to compete February 29 through March 2. More information on the meet will come in the following days.
