Beaverhead Travel Baseball hosted their first official tournament this Mother’s Day weekend. It was a hit having seven teams total play in the tournament, with the 10U and 12 U Beaverhead Bomb Squad, the Butte Dirt Ballers, Butte Diamonds, Idaho Falls Bandits, and the Salmon Pirates. After three years of trying to have the tournament, this was the first year the tournament was able to be pulled off without a hitch. In the previous two years, tournament organizers saw a cancellation due to rain, and just last year, they had to cancel due to COVID.
This year the Bomb Squads 10U team came out as the tournament champs, with a win over the Dirt Ballers.
Talking with Andy Bartlome, he wanted to thank all the parents who pulled off every type of duty from concessions, scorekeeping, and even some janitorial work. My wife for dealing with me during the tournament. The players who were no longer eligible to play showed up to do some umpiring for the games, as well as RJ Fitzgerald and other fathers who umpired the games and donated the pay back to the league. Any money raised from the tournament will go back to future tournament fees and help in keeping down the cost of the program.
Andy also stated, “We want to thank the community for their show of support, and we hope this helped to stimulate the local economy with the players and parents it brought to Dillon.”
“With the 10U team, they have had some long years, but they are starting to come into their own and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Next up for our teams will be the Max Hemmert Memorial Tournament on Father’s Day weekend in Salmon, ID.”
