Dillon, MT local Wade Hansen has been on a quest all his life to hike up to the tallest mountains in and around Beaverhead County. After accomplishing these hikes, he started to look at mountains in other states and this year he climbed up Mount Elbert.

For any person this is a feat but keep in mind Wade is still young at 74. Mount Elbert is 14,433 feet and is the highest mountain in Colorado. On June 25, 2024, Wade’s goal was to hike uphill for 8 hours. This got him to an elevation of 13,172 feet, that is 2,000 feet higher than Tweedy Mountain, the highest mountain in the Pioneers.

Satisfied with his accomplishments Wade then had the task of walking back down the mountain to his start. A little over five hours later Wade was back where it all started and at 74 years old, he knew he still has it.
