The Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed repeal of two ARM rules pertaining to the rest rotation and walk/wade sections of the Madison River. The hearing will be held Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. via Zoom. There will be no in-person hearing.

The Madison River Work Group, which is charged with making recommendations on the Madison River recreation management rules to the commission, unanimously decided to recommend the commission repeal ARM 12.11.6702 and 12.11.6706. The group’s rationale for the recommended repeal was based on lack of support for either rule. The commission voted to propose the repeal of the rules during its October meeting.

The deadline for public comment on the repeals is Dec. 17. Comments can be sent mailed to: Madison River Comments, FWP, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT, 59620-0701. Comments can also be emailed to madisonrivercom@mt.gov.
